Norway Ferry Strike & Nutshell Tour
Bjorn from Norway said in a previous post about a ferry strike in Norway that has affected the Norway in a Nutshell loop and appears long-lasting - just highlighting for anyone planning a Nutshell or Coastal ship tour in the near future Another big issue: For the time beeing there is a ferry strike in Norway. It may be long lasting, and every week with no solution, the strike expands. By now also the Nuthsell's ferry leg is blocked, and also 3 of the Hurtigrutn ships (Bergen-North Cape). |
Danger over!
The ferry strike came to it's end yesterday, so now you all can relax!! Bjorn, Oslo |
Did the strike really end?
We were on the phone with the Norway in a Nutshell office yesterday, and the strike was still on. We're doing the tour in 3 weeks. |

Yes. For sure the strike is brought to an end. A little surprisingly, however, since the parts have not met for weeks.
I believe, though, that facing the probable long term heavy loss for the reputation of Norwegian tourism was of great importance. In Norway main negotiations are made every second year, and that's now. And that is why there has been some minor and this major strike. For some time it looked like whole Norway would lay down the work, but that threath has , as usual, vanished. Except for the soccer players. They threathen with a strike starting tomorrow if they do not get an insurance agreement in place within then. I think, however, that all Fodorites going to Norway can stand a soccer strike. Happy travel! Bjorn, Oslo |
And, for those still in doubt:

Thank you Bjorn!
My 10 year old soccer playing son would probably be more concerned about the Norwegian soccer player strike. I keep reassuring him that we will be able to get World Cup news while we are in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. |
Of course, padams!
And above all, the soccer strike never got started. Meaning that Norway once again is back to her peaceful life. Bjorn |
