That's a lot of Bergen!
Why not exchange a few nights in Bergen for something further afield? Also I agree with dyoll's comments about backtracking. Norway in a Nutshell is of course less of a necessity if you branch out a bit. |
I personally think that there is more to see in Oslo than Bergan. You are only giving yourself a full day/night in Oslo. As jet lag may be a problem at the beginning, why not go slow at first, add a night or two in Oslo, and as suggested cut down on your time in Bergen, and avoid backtracking when possible.

dyoll,
I didn't think about train from Oslo Savanger and that would make sense and save time as well. 1) I had a look at the Norway in a nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo incorporating the fjord cruise and flam railway. the train leaves Myrdal just before 6pm and arrives in oslo at 10:45pm. I guess I would miss some of the scenery due to night travel, but that is something I need to decide re; this option would provide valuable time elsewhere. I wouldn't mind traveling first class but am guessing the cheap fares are not available when booking through "Norway in a nutshell", I will enquire further 2) I am fixed to flying home from Copenhagen, and prefer to be there the night before the 26 hr flight home. If I alter the itinerary to finish in oslo, then I will train it to Stockholm and then train it to Copenhagen. menachem To be honest I haven't any ideas of what I would do afield from Bergen at this stage. The time in Bergen would have included 2 day trips , one to Hardangerfjord cruise, and the other was the Norway in a nutshell roundtrip for the flam and Gudvangen cruise. If I do the Flam/Gudvangen cruise on the way back to Oslo, maybe spend some time in Hardangerfjord area? or any other suggestions? maxima If I alter my Itinerary I will add another day to Oslo before training it to Stavanger. I agree about the jetlag, it hits me rather hard as I am a lite sleeper on the plane. |
