Think all of those day trips from Copenhagen are great. But also think you need 3 full days in Copenhagen to see the major sights in the city. I would check these out in the Michelin green guide - to get an idea of what you want to see so you can switch days from Norway as necessary.

Although most off the time you get through Oslo airport pretty quickly I wouldn't risk cutting down arrival time to 1 hr before flight. The security queue is the same whether it's international or domestic (Copenhagen is international), and remember you have to be at the gate about 20 min before take-off time. If you plan to arrive 1 hr beforehand then you have little allowance for any delays - e.g. rail works in summer. There is no second guessing check-in time and security time, usually it goes quickly, but then one-day you find the queue is out the door - nice to have a bit of spare time to cope with this.

Yes Copenhagen has a cornucopia of neat things in it - one of my favorite places in Europe is Christiana in the heart of Copenhagen and said to be the most visited site in town after Tivoli Gardens - Christiana is a totally unique place:

One of the few or perhaps only remaining free cities of the 70s -

and along with Amsterdam and Barcelona one of the few places were cannabis is sold unfettered and out in the open, on Pusher Street.

stave churches are like the "Roman brush" first the handle fell off and then the head but it is still a Roman brush.. Stave churches burst into flames a lot, rebuilds look like old ones.

I've taken both trains and cars through Norway and much as I like trains the car is the way to go. If you cannot hire an automatic (are you sure) get trained to use a proper car :-)

'stave churches are like the "Roman brush" ' - Rubbish! They may have been added to, adapted and restored over the years, but the remaining stave churches still have the original buildings. http://www.visitnorway.com/uk/about-...tave-churches/

LOL, One time I was there 2 burnt down. I saw the smoke and the pile of charcoal at one. Now I've seen it rebuilt. Sorry but my own eyes know what they saw.
