Northern Spain itinerary - San sebastian and/or Picos
 

As part of a longer trip in Spain, will be arriving in Bilbao airport at 1 PM on Tuesday the 27th, and are flying to Barcelona early Friday morning the 30th. The plan was originally to go directly to San Sebastian and spend the entire time there. ( maybe spend a couple hours in Bilbao first).

I'm dying to spend some time in the Picos. Is it possible to spend a day there, and still have some time ( one night/day ) in san sebastian). Let's say, get out to the Picos tuesday afternoon. Spend most of Wednesday there, and then head to San Sebastian, and spend Wednesday night, Thursday there.

Is that feasible? With or without public transportation?
IF so where would the best place to go in the Picos be, based on my time etc. ( to get in some spectacular views, and maybe do a little hiking- 2-3 hours tops).

You could do it but I wouldn't. Two days in San Sebastian is not nearly enough time for me.

It's about a 2-1/2 hour drive from the Bilbao airport to Potes in the Picos, which is where you want to be if you want to do any trekking. Getting there by public transport will be long and difficult. If you don't plan on having a rental car, then I would simply head to San Sebastian-Donostia after spending a few hours seeing what you can in Bilbao.

I concur--do not cut SS short.

Save the Picos for another time.

SS is not to be missed!!! Awesome!! Nothing the matter with the Picos but don't try to do both.
