Northern Peloponnese to Eastern Peloponnese

Hello, I have been trying to post this for a couple of days but have had issues with some sort of logistics - an administrator at Fodors has tried to help me hence the half message sent below, a bit incomprehensible!! Anyway below is my question:-

I leave for 16 days holiday in the Peloponnese on Friday: I am pondering how to start off my holiday motoring in the Peloponnese and fancy driving in from Athens airport past Corinth taking the old road that hugs the north coast, and I believe is more scenic, towards Diakofta (rack and pinion railway).

Then - wanting to see a bit of the mountains inland and wanting to aim for the Nemea winelands and Lake Stimfalia to eventually end up on the east coast and Astros and Poulithra etc (so, a sort of circular route) - I'm thinking of heading inland around Aigio (Egio?), south towards Kalavrita and south of Kiltoria to link up with the road that appears on my map to form a circular road round the south of Mount Ziria to Lake Stimfalia and onwards towards Nemea.

The roads I refer don't seem to have a name but one can see them on a map - my question is: are they reasonable roads to drive on, and do they pass through pleasant countryside to enjoy? Any thoughts on travelling this route? Has anyone else done it on here and do they have any advice?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't driven those roads, specifically. Have you tried Google Street View?

I just took a quick look at a road heading inland from Aigio (I think the road is called Dafnon) and the first few miles looked like a fairly well-maintained 2-lane road with some nice green hills to the south-east. Not bad.

Hi mr_go, the Dafron Road does not go towards Kalavrita and Kiltoria unfortunately.

I hope I'm not too late with this!
I have been on nearly all the roads I think you mean & they were fine. Take your time & get a good map, don't just rely on GPS.
