Northern lakes

On a trip this fall that will include Lago Maggiore (Cannobio), Lago Como (Varenna), Lago Iseo, and Lago Garda (Bardolino). These stops are all new to us. Any suggestions for restaurants would be greatly appreciated. Grazie.

If you can plan your visit to Bardolino during their fall grape and wine festival,(festa dell'uva e del vino) this year Oct 3-7, you will be in for a treat. We were staying in Verona for a week last Oct. and went to Bardolino twice during the 5 day event. Wine, food and music along the lake--fun fun fun. Deborah

Thanks. We were going to stay in Verona and changed it to Bardolino when we saw the festival. Went to the Chianti Classico festival in Greve a few years ago and had a great time.

Heading to the lakes in August, staying in Varenna and Desenzano. Will report back on any culinary triumphs.

My research on Bardolino to date throws up two "local" places Al Commercio and Biri (which come with a donkey ragu alert) and a more tourist-orientated common restaurant group - Corte San Giovanni, Corte San Luca and Due Torre (website: www.corvinorestaurant.it).

In Varenna, plans are to dine in il Cavatappi and La Vista.
