Northern Italy..weather in October
I have read in the guidebooks and in several places that weather in mid-late October is probably near 60 highs and 40 lows...is there much rain? First snow in the mountains is December, right? will i be ok with a good sweater or light jacket?
I will be in Bolzano, Florence and Rome...will try to make it to Venice if weather is agreeable

Hi
We were up in the Dolomites several years ago and it was snowing. This was at the end of August and we were not prepared for it. Rome and Florence are further south of Bolzano and the weather is different. We were further north. We stayed in San Vito di Cadore and crossed the Brenner Pass into Austria. If you have the time and are interested there is a great drive we took called the Dolomite Road. It goes from Bolzano to Cortina, very scenic.

enjoy it
