We are thinking of stopping one night in Luzern enroute from Lauterbrunnen to Fuessen. Lindau looks great too but since we will have only had 3 nights in Switzerland thought we should try another Swiss city.

I would do Lucerne over Lindau any day - Lindau is neat but Lucerne is IMO one of Europe's most gorgeous cities - lovingly set on a fjord-like lake - try to do a boat trip around the lake - frequent boats leave from right opposite the train station.
