North or South from Somerset?

A little background: I lived in Wales for a while, and also in London. I am going back over for a wedding in Yeovil, Somerset in early June and then planning to drive around for a week. I will be starting and finishing in London.

On my last trip (March 2016), I went north from Cardiff to Portmeirion (which i HIGHLY recommend), and then to Chester, Sheffield, the Cotswolds, Oxford and then London. This trip, I had planned to visit a cousin in Welshpool on the Welsh borders (but found she's going to be away) and then go to Stoke to visit the potteries, swing back down to the Cotswolds, and then back to London.

So, now I am thinking of taking the five or so days to drive around the southern coast of England. I am not a huge nature person, and I don't mind driving, but I'd like to visit small towns to go antiquing. I am also very interested in architecture, mostly old, and architectural photography.

Any and all suggestions are gratefully appreciated!

I think a loop down through Dorset and then east along the coast to/through the New Forest and up to London (or lHR or wherever you want to end up) would be great. Wonderful coast, neat towns an villages, Lyme Regis, Dorchester, Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu, etc etc.

You might enjoy a visit to Lacock Abbey, home of William Henry Fox Talbot, one of the pioneers of photography. Lacock is a lovely, photogenic village.
