North Carolinians Take Warning

The men's room attendants at Schipol Airport in Amsterdam are mostly women, happily mopping while the men use the urinals.

At the Rodin Museum in Paris, the line for the women's toilets was right behind the line of men using the urinals, though perhaps the renovations have changed that.

Toilet stalls in Europe are usually like closets, with walls to the ceiling and solid doors to the floor, so the hand washing facilities serve everyone, men and women, in a common area and you don't know what the gender of the person in the next stall might be.

Clearly, this will make members of the NC Legislature uncomfortable, and they should be sure to stay home.

Nope, with their tunnel vision they won't see a thing. NOT LOL!

You might have made it clear in the title that you were talking to the NC legislators and not to all the people who live in NC. There are not all crazy. After all, it was Charlotte's non-discrimination ordinance that started the idiocy.

And this is likely to suffer the sane fate as the last thread in this on the Europe board and get moved to the Lounge.

For us Europeans, this is not understandable. Give explanations, please!

The perception is that southern states in the USA are very conservative, but that is misleading. What's really happening is that there is a growing disconnect in those states between cities and rural areas. Metropolitan areas in the south are almost as liberal as any city in New York or California. Charlotte, Atlanta, Austin, and Nashville are all progressive cities inside what are otherwise very conservative states.

Likewise, even in very liberal states such as California the rural areas are quite conservative. The red state/blue state paradigm is not very useful. The real differences are between rural political views and urban ones.

I'm sure North Carolina can give a flip about the bathroom attendants in Europe.

Info on the passage of the Charlotte ordinance:

That led directly to the state legislature passing HB2. It is possible there will be a state-wide referendum on HB2 in November.

A little strange that The North takes the moral high ground when they produced Donald Fart : who wants to build walls.

How could you tell the ladies were mopping happily in front of the urinals? Did they whistle while they worked?

justineparis Apr 29th, 2016 01:14 PM

Don't the people elect their officals/legislators??.. so why is it a leap to assume that the people mostly are happy with them.. and their values.. its majority wins still isn't it?

thursdaysd Apr 29th, 2016 01:59 PM

I guess you've never heard of gerrymandering?

And the headline implied unanimity.
