normandy tours

We thought our trip plans were all completed. However, the guide we booked last February, Jacques Perreau, sent an e-mail to me when I confirmed in July that all was fine. Then a few weeks ago, he e-mailed telling me that he overbooked and could we make it friday instead of saturday. We said fine. Yesterday he says he overbooked again for friday and suggested a friend to do the tour. At 268 euros I think that he probably got a better deal. Anyone who books that far in advance can't mess up 2 days in a row. We are really disappointed and beginning our trip on a sour note. So, we would like to book in Bayeux with a tour with 2 or 4 people onoly with us. What can you recommend for us? I'm sure everyone has had tours from Bayeux. We only want to do about6 hours and not from 9 to 5 if possible.
We would appreciate your help!
thanks,
jjashworth

Last summer we did a full day tour with Battlebus. I believe they do private tours as well, so you should be able to shorten your time by doing it that way. But I have to say, the full day tour was absolutely amazing and we were kicking ourselves for not doing the 2 day tour. And this was 3 women...myself, my mother (65) and my daughter (16). So you might reconsider a bit as the guides are so knowledgeable and interesting.

Battlebus is completely booked. To think we could have done this in February! Has anyone done NST or Victory Tours? Any other suggestions? We can still use the other guide recommended by Jacques but will he be reliable??
We only have a few days before we leave. Would really appreciate some help.
thanks

I know Jacques well. He wouldn't normally mess up like that. It must have been an exceptional oversight.
There's always the CDT (Calvados tourism) at Caen to find a guide or use a d-day audio guide to use in your car.

I'd suggest you take him up on
the sub but ask for a 10% discount. That's a pretty big "mistake". And I'd forward this thread to him.

I will add that we used the Michelin Green Guide and some guide books we picked up at the sites and thought we had quite enough information about the landings. The sites themselves are so powerful, the museums good, but after a couple, some are repetitive. We started at St. Mere Eglise and came down to the east. We stopped at Pegasus Bridge en route to Bayeux.

Hello jj:

Here I go again. I suggest Victory tours. Roel will come to the Chateau in his own car and show you a wonderful day for as long as you wish and on your itinerary. Gradyghost

We used Roel and Victory and loved it. Excellent tour, that took into account our interests and the disparate ages in our group. The kids had a ball, and the adults learned a lot.

I highly recommend him.

Ditto for Roel and Victor tours. He was terrific and we were very pleased with the tour. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Would this tour work? http://www.linkparis.com/normandy-day-tour.htm

We used them for our Loire Tour and they were awesome.
