Normandy tour from Paris

We were hoping to do a Normandy beach tour while we are in Paris. There is a company (Fat Tire Bikes) that provides for the travel from Paris to the beaches. It is more costly than going direct on your own, but I have not priced train fare for the trip from Paris.

We have never been to Paris and are not sure about traveling by train on our own. We are also not thrilled about renting a car and driving ourselves.

Any suggestions? Thanks

You can also take tours to the Normandy beaches; two companies are ParisVision and CityRama. The trips take about 11 hours and in 2004 (the dates of my brochures) cost 240 Euros.

I booked a tour with CityRama. I will let you know how it was upon our return. Thank you for the information.

I don't know which tours Underhill is referring to as both companies offer a bus tour and also a smaller van tour(about 7/8 people in which the driver is a personal guide). I did this tour a couple of years ago and recommend it. One gets picked up at your hotel at about 6 AM or so and returned there at about 8 PM. As close to a personal tour as you can get.

In May we went with this tour company,
http://www.paris-trip.com/tours.asp?id=7
and were not disappointed. They picked us up at our hotel @6:15 am and we returned to the hotel @ 6:20 pm. Very good English speaking driver. 4 couples in the van (plenty of room) and as you can see from the website, a very comprehensive tour.

I see the OP has already booked their tour, but for people reading this thread in the future we also went with www.paris-trip.com and had a wonderful daytrip. Our guide, Lionel, was excellent. We were picked up in a minivan at our apt. at 6:30am and dropped off about 7:00pm. A long day, but well worth it!

Do you remember the cost of these tours?

Ours was 160 euros per person, which incl. entrance to the Caen Memorial Museum.

I did not book with Paris Trip simply because we need to go on a Tuesday and they only do tours on other days unless there is a full van. Since there are only 2 of us, we could not do their tour.

I will post on this tour after we get back. I am hoping it is a good tour. My husband is SO looking forward to going.
