Sorry for the delay! You have all given me great information. I was in Bayeux in Nov 2004... and it was a great base. I couldn't remember where I stayed... but after seeing someone mention it, I remembered that I stayed at Hotel de Argouges. I think it makes sense for them to stay in a village/town and am going to do more research on the options for Bayeux. They will literally be there for 2 nights.. and will only have one full day for sightseeing. Their primary goal is to visit the D-Day beaches. I'd like to give them 2 places... was thinking of Bayeux and Honfleur. Given that a lot of places are closed in December, I should be able to narrow down my choices quickly. I will then look at restaurants, etc. I remember having a fantastic meal at a place called Le Petite Bistro... right near the Tapestry/Cathedral. I wonder if it's still around!
