normandy from paris?

While it can be done, I'll be <i><b>presumptuous</b></i> (an "in" word here on the forum, of late) - - and try to talk you out of it.
I don't know when, nor how long you'll be in Paris, nor where going to/coming from before or after...
...but I would take the first night - - or the last night - - and subtract it from your Paris plan, so that you can spend 36 hours in the vicinity of the Normandy invasion sites. And you can likely pay for your transportation by getting a place to stay (in Arromaches, for example - - you'lle be glad you did) for $50 to $100 less than whatever you're spending for that same night in Paris.
Trains readily connect you to Bayeux; others can no doubt fill you in on more local transportation options once you are there.

I agree with Rex. If you can spend one night in Normandy, it will be a much more pleasurable trip and allow you to really see the WWII sights. I suggest an overnight in Bayeux. There are lots of tours that leave from there. If you can only take a day trip, look into a tour arrangement from Paris.

Agree with both above- we took train from Paris to Beayeux and stayed overnight at Hotel D'Argouges which is right in the middle of town but back from the hustle and bustle of the street. Very nice room with breakfast and walkable to see the Tapistry, Cathedral, and many nice restaurants. You can also get a tour of the Beaches from there, or rent a car and od your own if you wish.

Yes, you can visit some of the beaches in a day.
Take the first train from St-Lazare station, and you will be in Bayeux at 9h22. Pick up a guided tour at the train station, and you can see the landing areas, cemeteries, the museum at Arromanches, and even the Bayeux Tapestry* before the last train departs at 19h36.
If you like seafood, try to be around Port-en-Bessin at lunchtime.
* In the Tapestry museum, there is a rather protracted walk-by history of the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings. To save time, get a book and study the backstory on the trip down.
