Normandy France
 

I plan to be in Paris in October for 1 week. After leavingI would like to discover Normandy for about 3 days. Can anyone recommend a central location where I can take day trips in that region . I hate going from one hotel to another .If you have a good B&B ,I would appreciate it.

Bayeux is a very good base for touring the WW II sites.

Bayeux is good a general Normandy centre for all the other reasons one would visit the town. Parking can be a bit of a problem as the centre is so old but hey, worth searching the fodor site for Bayeux accomodation.

My Family is normally intrested in the Cherbourg Peninsula and would stay in say St Vaast but not so good for touring.

We did have the tour with Col. Chilcott and did stay at their eccentric B&B (and enjoyed it very much). Don't know his status, sounds as though he was ill last year, which is too bad. I agree, Bayeux is a good base. The WWII sites are a must see. Happy Travels!
