Normandy & Bretagne

River barge trip on canal de Bourgogne 6 -12 Sept 2015. Haven't been to western France yet and want to spend a week driving around there. Would the weather be decent in mid-September? Or should we plan to go there in late Aug/early Sept before the river barge.

The weather should be halfway decent in mid-September. There will be a little rain from time to time, but that shouldn't be an issue. Our last visit to Normandy was mid to late November 2012 and the weather was fine most of the time.

Decent, well not a lot of shorts and tee shirt weather, but light trousers sleeved shirts will do fine. Being out in the Atlantic it can get wet for a short time. But the good thing is most tourists will have given up so many facilities will be under used.

Wonderful oysters.

Like ira, we were in Brittany and Normandy this fall also (early October) and the weather was wonderful. We had planned on wind and cold, but what we found was just the opposite. Like most coastal regions, the water will help keep the land warmer into the fall. We drive along the coast from Tregastel in Brittany to Honfleur in Normandy. What a wonderful experience!
