Normandy

I think you mistyped something. Did you mean 2 months instead of 2 nights? You can't even scratch the surface of Normandy in 2 nights. Although 2 weeks would give you a nice start. Two nights means one day, which one or two of the things do you want to see?

We spent a few days at a bed and b in Normandy last year and had a great time. It is helpful if you speak French as little English is spoken here. We at our evening meal there and I could not believe the amount and quality of the food. The rooms are nothing fancy but very clean and serviceable. And Normandy is really a large area spanning from Mont St Michel at its western Brittany edge to beyond Etretat, with Normandy invasion sites in the middle. It's also a lot of great areas inland, encompassing Rouen and all the area back to Vernon/Giverny.

I strongly recommend www.normandy-tourism.org - - an excellent website which should help you add focus, and with tons of accommodations listed there. I'd be glad to offer some suggestions of places to stay, knowing WHERE in Normandy your primary interests lie.

Best wishes,

Rex Bickers
Westerville, Ohio
[email protected]
May I recommend a B&B we stayed at in April 2002 - http://www.vrbo.com/vrbo/352.htm
Owned by Col. and Mrs. Chilcott. Do a word search on Chilcott and you can get the particulars.
Regards - Tom
[email protected]

Give us a little more info, Alice. Will you have a car? What are your interests? Do you want to see the WWII beaches, cathedrals, countryside?

Many people use Bayeux as their HQ if they're interested in exploring Normandy's WWII history (as well as medieval history, i.e., the tapestry), for example, but if you want to visit the charming coastal towns of the east, that's another matter. We stayed near Villers Bocage, not far from Bayeux, for a recent five-day stay. Our B&B was listed with Gites-de-France (http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/), which site may give you some ideas.
