Air France says that the nonstop flights from Newark Airport to CDG Paris are no longer offered Does anyone know of an airline that does offer nonstop Newark to CDG?

Continental (soon to be United regretfully) has two Newark to CDG flights a day: at 6pm and 8:30pm.

I too noticed that Air France is no longer flying direct from Newark to Paris. In order to get a direct flight, you need to fly out of JFK or Philadelphia. There are 5 flights from JFK and one out of Phila. I am disappointed that AF has discontinued the Newark non stop; it was the flight I always booked to Paris. It's either AF from JFK or Continental, which has 2 flights to CDG on Boeing 757-200 aircraft. It shows that airlines are cutting back on flights and in particular, wide body aircraft. The 757 is at the limit of its' range for a transatlantic flight when heading westbound from London or Paris. It was recently reported that some 757's had to land when heading westbound from Europe because of 70 knot headwinds. Aircraft are burning more fuel to maintain same relative speed or have to climb to near maximum service ceilings to avoid weather and wind..

I wonder how much longer the airlines are going to play this game of Aviation Russian roulette..

Now, Langcraft, that's getting a bit histrionic. In winter months the westbound 757s from CDG may sometimes make planned, not emergency, fuel stops in Newfoundland. The need to refuel is based on headwinds and other factors that increase fuel consumption. That's why there are flight plans and gauges aboard the craft.

Seamus:

Not histrionic at all; simply a review of the aircrafts' capability. According to Boeing, the 757 has a range of 3900 nautical miles at max takeoff weight. Assuming no major disruptions due to weather etc, a 757 flying from Paris to New York would be pretty much at the limit of its' flying time. You point out that flight may make planned fuel stops in Newfoundland? Well..that isn't something generally revealed by the crew: "By the way folks, we need to pick up a few thousands gallon in NF..just to be on the safe side..

And I know all about flight plans and gauges.. my best friend is a 767 First Officer for Continental...we talk all the time...

If it makes any difference, the two Continental flights from Newark to CDG are Boeing 767s, not 757s.

Until recently that was the case, but if you go onto Continental Airlines website they have 2 flights to Paris; Flight 056 departs at 6:15 pm and Flight 054 departs at 9:20 pm. Both flights list the 757-200 as the aircraft used. The return flights, CO 055 and CO 057 respectively list 757-200 as the birds used to fly westbound.
