NOMINATION BRACELETS

Does anyone know any shops in Florence that sell the original nominations bracelets?

Thanks,
Molly

Try their website: http://www.nomination.com/
Perhaps you can find the info you want there.

There are quite a few. Just look in all the hole in the wall shops that display jewelry. I can't remember the name but the best shop I found was in the square where all the museum statues and repro of David with the water fountains are outside. Sorry I don't remember the plaza name. I picked up 6 Italy links if Italian locations and there were a few more I didn't get because I thought I'd find them later (I didn't). Rule of thumb, get what you can when you can! Have fun.

sorry for typos

Check eBay first, there are plenty of Nomination bracelets and charms there.

ritamolly, they're EVERYWHERE! You will not have a problem finding them. I know this because I was in Florence a year ago with three 13-yr-old girls. :-D

Are the bracelets/charms cheaper there? I know they are from Florence originally. The charms seem to be about $13-20 here.

ritamolly=charms should be 1/2 price what you pay in the states....

travelinwify.

That would be Piazza Signoria and the shop is really tiny, across from a gelateria, between the fancy stationary store and the Pharmacy on Via Calziouli.

I just returned from Florence in July of this year. There are several stores, you shouldn't have any problems finding them. The cost varied from 16 to 18 Euros, if they were true Nominations and/or Zoppini. I bought several for myself and as gifts for the women in my family and did get a discount as a result.

Wow! Great memory Calamari!

Thank you. I know it well.

cigalechanta Aug 28th, 2003 06:06 PM

cal, what are nomination bracelets?

suzy Aug 28th, 2003 06:43 PM

I was going to ask the very same thing.

Calamari Aug 28th, 2003 06:43 PM

I am not sure. I think they are referring to the "Italian Charm" bracelets. I just know the shop she was talking about because they always have something I cannot live without.

Calamari Aug 28th, 2003 06:47 PM

The "Italian Charm" bracelets are those stainless, stretchy bracelets with little designs on each square charm. You can add on to personalize them with initials, hobbies, causes, etc. They are all over the malls here in So. Cal. It is a fad that seems to be on its way out.

They're Italian charm bracelets. The best thing about them is that you can make them very personal. One of my friends has one and this is what's on it: a rose, for her daughter, an apple, for NYC, which she loves, a shamrock because she's Irish, a bat, because her son loved Batman when he was a little boy, and a J for her initial. Today we got the newsletter from our son's high school, and they announced that one of the jewelers in town has a customized charm featuring the high school logo on it!

If you go to Yahoo and type in "nomination bracelet" you will come up with a few hits and then you can see what the bracelets look like.

Thanks all, I'm off to look

I'm showing my age now :) but how are these different from the charm bracelets we wore in the 60's (and my sister wore in the fifties?). You bought the bracelet and added charms to commemorate special events, just as dln mentioned. Our high school had special gold charms made for the prom date, school symbol, etc. Jewelers still sell special charms.

What makes the "Nomination" bracelets special? Thanks!

The charms are the actual links, they are flat and connect to each other. They do not hang or dangle from the bracelet like traditional 3 dimensional charms.
