but what exactly does "topping" mean and how do you do it? Certain times when European posters come up?? As you can see I am new to this!
On other posted questions I pretty much found the information I needed, except where the caves of Etna are concerned. Any suggestions there?

Have you gone over to Trip Advisor and read the hotel reviews there? That's often a better place to start than such a general question on this forum.
