jill----I am loving your report. It takes me back to one of our best European vacations.

Bob----fantastic photos!

jent103----We stayed at The Grand Tremezzo directly across the lake from Bellagio and next to Villa Carlotta.

It was absolutely wonderful. Breakfast on the balcony looking at that gorgeous view every morning was special. We also had dinner there twice. There was a hill behind the hotel that you could climb, steep but easy. The views of Bellagio at just before sunset were stunning---a golden glow across the lake. There was a boat stop at Villa Carlotta that took you anywhere on the lake. We loved Varenna,Mennagio, and all the little towns to explore.

Tremezzo is a very small town, but it's a good location to drive to some fantastic places for dinner. The hotel reccommended a few and they were all great. My birthday dinner at www.alveluu.com about a 5-10 minute drive away was one of my all time favorites.

Thanks, TPAYT. That hotel looks gorgeous! Unfortunately it's out of our budget, but hopefully someone else can take advantage of it.

It's been quite a while since this trip report was written but if anyone knows Borgo Le Terrazze in Bellagio, where we have booked for Oct 8 th-10 th, I would love the feedback. Is it lovely time of year? I agree sundancebee, I too wish there was more.....

kcnewby, if you really want people to see your question, you should start a new thread.

I am not familiar with Borgo Le Terrazze, but are you aware it's not in Bellagio? It's about two miles away. If you want an apartment in the middle of Bellagio (albeit without the stunning views) and don't need a pool (probably not heated in October anyway), look at Residence La Limonera.

October 8-10 is nearly the end of the season in the Bellagio area, but you should have good weather.
