Actually, international travel is of great interest to tens of millions of Americans every year. Especially travel to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and Central American countries.

What indicators and how is it justified or not justified?

American Fodorites have had it good for the last fifteen years. Now things are changing. Tough bickies!
What goes around comes around - now it's your turn to grind your teeth and learn how to stretch your tourist dollar. Harzer |
harzer, laugh while you can because the dollar will be back sooner rather than later. Oh, and how did it feel to be down for 15 years?
|
Oh, and that 90%-95% figure for Americans not having passports that someone threw out is inaccurate. The State Department issued almost 55,000,000 passports in the last 8 years alone. 65,000,000 in the last 10 years. There are around 260,000,000 American citizens, so certainly far more than 5 or 10% have passports.
|
I believe the figure is around 80% for Americans who do not have passports. (I suppose the numbers wouldn't directly match up with the above since many are issued to people who are already current passport holders as passports near expiration, etc.)
