No direct trains from Paris to Bayeux on July 1 - 2?

I am on the tgv-europe.com website, trying to book round trip tickets from Paris to Bayeux for July 1 - July 2. I read that I needed to wait 90 days before travel to book a ticket, which I've done. All the tickets I'm seeing have 2 train transfers and are fairly expensive. When I search back a week or two, there are direct trains at much lower prices. Should I wait and see if something better opens up? Is it a problem with the dates I'm traveling? I've already booked a hotel and D-Day tour for that time so I'm kind of nervous. Any advice?
Thanks,
Laurie

When you say direct do you mean with no changes?

I would wait a few days. I see trains with no changes up until June 24.

Check again in a few days, but there's work on that line then that may disrupt service.

By direct, I mean with no changes. Could this have something to do with changing the summer train schedule (she asks, hopefully???) I think I read something about that somewhere, about waiting until 60 days before travel?

I don't think the full schedule has been loaded yet.

In case anyone is interested, I called Rail Europe's 800 number (I know, I know....don't book through Rail Europe.) I just wanted to see if they could tell me anything. They said there are direct trains, but they're not available for sale yet and to keep checking back. Thanks for your feedback. I'll keep trying.

It wasn't a matter of not believing you. I appreciate the time you took to reply. I just wanted to see if they knew anything about work being done on the track because if that were the case I needed to make other arrangements and changes to my itinerary ASAP.

I honestly don't think Rail Europe is going to know much of anything that goes on in France. Their sole purpose is to sell tickets at an uplift. It's a call center operation.

If you do a little sleuthing, which took me a couple of minutes, you'll see that on June 24 there is a train that goes from Paris St-Lazare to Bayeux via Caen. On June 25 the trains are routed via Le Mans. But you can still take a train from Paris to Evreux or to Caen that do not go via Le Mans.

Without walking the track I cannot absolutely ensure there will be no work being done but Caen and Bayeux are the gateways to the Normandy D Day beaches so I don't think they would plan on working on the tracks beginning June 25, more than 2 months from now, at the beginning of high tourist season.

I would not worry about this.

Raileurope's purpose is to make money, and they are a call center just in the fact that they aren't a brick and mortar store, that doesn't mean they can't know anything about their business. They are owned partly by SNCF, after all, so they might just know something about French rail tickets and their availability.
