No "culture week" in Italy this spring?

Normally by now a "Culture Week" is announced for sometime in the spring in Italy, such as in http://www.beniculturali.it/mibac/ex...BAC/index.html . Not only are most museums free, but some places are specially opened for only one day a year.

What happened to it - budget crunch? I think the Italian name is Settimana Cultura . By waiting longer, budget hotels in Rome anyway seem to be filling up... it looks like I can stay in Venice much cheaper than Rome for some reason. thanks

It's Settimana della Cultura.

In recent years, it has been in early spring (March-April); in earlier years, it was often in May.

If it's being put back to a later date this year, it will also be announced later.

I had written to the Public Relations Office for this Ministry, regarding the date for 2010. They suggested writing back in March, as the date had not yet been set.

No, no, no! The March dates were for the year *2008*!

The Settimana della Cultura is a nation-wide event; it doesn't have different dates in Rome than in the rest of the country.

Thanks so much. Is that memo pretty definite on apr 16-25 being culture week? Is it asking participating museums to have details finalized for a mar 16 announcement?

For some reason I can't get this memo to even convert to text, let alone run thru googles italian pdf translator...

Yes, it's definite, and yes, that's what it's asking.

Details communicated before March 16 will be published in pamphlets and such and on the Web site; details communicated after March 16 only on the Web site.
