No #^@%& Maps!
Why in the world do so many hotels refuse to put maps of their locations on the their web sites? It's bad enough when they don't do this in cities where you can at least search mapquest etc., but it is inexcusable when they fail to do it for places located in non-metro areas where there is no source for a map. They often don't even both with a an adress. Granted, not all have street numbers, but they could at least give the name of the street or road.
It shows comptempt for their potential customers. A lousy little hand-drawn map could save people a lot of time and hassel. Why don't they understand this? |
Maybe it's in a lousy location, and they don't want you to know until you get there!
|
Maybe if a bunch of people stopped staying in these places they'd change their way of doing business.
You gonna be the first to do so? |
Hi m,
Instead of cursing the darkness, light a candle. Enter the address of the property at www.mappy.com, www.viamichelin.com or www.multimap.com. ((I)) |
And have another cup of coffee while you're at it... :)
Somehow I doubt they are doing it purposely to show contempt. Small businesses just don't often think like big chains - actually, to me that's part of the charm. I'm sure an email or a phone call or fax could get you the information, and maybe allow you to, um, relax a little? In the overall scheme of things, is it really worth getting this upset over? :) |
Harumph! Sharing in your pain! Where are these heathens located?
|
I hate the "NO MAP" deal too.....and how about the...
"NO PRICES LISTED"? I keep finding that problem while looking for apartments!! |

I see. Driving around in circles in a strange car in an unknown place where you don't know the language well enough to ask directions for an hour is charming. You have an odd sense of charm. "Enter the address of the property at www.mappy.com, www.viamichelin.com or www.multimap.com." Sheesh. Can't you read. |
Gee, have you thought to contact the hotel by email or fax and ASK them to provide driving directions?
|
I've seen that occasionally, also, and really do like a map.
I do find the ones without prices even more mysterious, however, and since I'm looking for hotels for this summer now, I've also seen some odd hotel web sites that don't tell you anything about the rooms -- no idea whatsoever of the most basic amenities (whether elevator, TV, minibar, etc.). They just have a page with the hotel name and maybe a photo of a room (with no description) and then perhaps a reservation form. I know some of these smaller hotels don't want to pay a good web designer, but anyone should be able to think of things a potential hotel customer might be interested in wanting to know. Anyone who had ever stayed in a hotel would have some idea, let alone someone in the business. I much prefer a map to asking driving directions, as a lot of people cannot give good directions (or remember wrong). Also, I want to know location at the beginning of the decision process when I am just narrowing down which hotels I might want to stay at by the location itself, and it isn't efficient to ask a list of potential hotels specific driving directions when you don't even know if you are that interested in them. |
A pox on all their houses.
