Nite Life in Greek Islands
I am planning a trip next spring to the Greek Islands and I am favoring going to Santorini. How is the nite life there and what months are considered the better ones to visit. Also which hotels are closest to the nite life.
Thanks

NIghtlife begins to pick up in Late May. Fira is the main town with most to offer that way: clubs, discos, bars, etc. Most hotels claiming a caldera view will be close to the action as long as they're centrally located. Choose some in your price range and ask them how far they are from the bus square. The closer they are the closer you'll be to the party scene.

Thanks Brotherleelove. I was thinking the Loucas Hotel would work for me. I checked with Lufthansa airlines this morning and I can arrive in Athens at 1:00 pm. Any ideas of what time the plan from Athens to Santorini leaves. Is there more than one.
appreciated.
appreciated.

Loucas Hotel is very central in Thira. Allot of steps to climb though. I stayed there one night and the electircity was out in the am so cold breakfast, cold water etc. No break on the room rate though. Personally I would stay in the lower part of Thira town where the accomodation is good and allot less expensive but without the view. There are plenty of restaurants and bars that you can sit in and see the view.
Assuming you are flying Olympic to Santorini their website should give you an idea of the number of flights etc. There may be other options ie Aegean, Cronus?

Aegean and Olympic are the only two airlines flying to Santorini. Cronus is no longer in business. I think Aegean might have absorbed them.

Aegean is cheaper and more reliable these days.
The good news is that if you book a few months in advance and there is a schedule change you won't be charged for it even if the price goes up, at least that's what happened to me this year with Aegean. Right now Aegean is charging 36 euros plus tax one-way, a VERY good deal.
The airlines usually offer 3 flights/day to Santorini (aka Thira). If you're arriving at 1PM you'll be catching an early-evening flight. Aegean offers etickets so booking is easy. Just don't lose it.

Hi BocaBob,
My friends & I had a great experience staying at Loucas last summer - and I think we may have been on the very bottom level (127 stair steps to reception if I recall correctly). We loved our rooms, our view was just incredible - and we were within 2-3 blocks (after the steps) of the best nightlife in Fira...yet it was peacefully quiet from our balcony at night.
I would definitely suggest you also consider Mykonos, if it's nightlife you are after...ever since our trip ended we've been talking about going back there!
