nimes to nice: itinerary suggestions, please!
we're rather spontaneously heading to nimes in mid-april and must fly out of nice within five days. any and all suggestions of how we might allot our time would be most welcome. many thanks!

This could fill a book, but I'll just mention a couple favorites not often cited otherwise.<BR><BR>1. the Corniche de l'Esterel - - the coastline drive from Frejus/St.Raphael to Cannes - - spectacular.<BR><BR>2. the towns of Montauroux and nearby Fayence and Tourettes. Some suggestions, west to east:<BR>-Wednesday outdoor market in St. Remy de Provence, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.<BR>-Maeght Foundation in St. Paul de Vence, wonderful modern art museum<BR>-Matrisse Chapel in Vence, check hours<BR>-Matisse Museum in Nice<BR><BR>Anthony

Although I have not been to Provence in at least a decade, I've spent three vacations there. And do not underrate Nimes itself. There are wonderful Roman ruins, a nice market, a pedestrian shopping mall (which at least when I was there had local stores) and a nice small city feel to it. It's one of my favorite small cities.<BR><BR>M

we're flying into nimes(on a v cheap ryan air flight from london stansted) and then taking a leisurely driving route to nice, where we're flying out, again on a cheapie one-way flight.

Uzes and Pont du Gard are both near Nimes.
