Nightshow "AU-LAPIN-AGILE" in Paris

I would like to join this show at end of December. As i know the show is SingSing show at nightime. Details as follows

Do you speak French? I always worried that I wouldn't understand enough of what was going on to enjoy the show. Here is one message I copied for you that eludes to that same feeling.

Message: I've been to Au Lapin Agile a couple of times and loved it. If your French isn't very good, though, I think most of it will be incomprehensible, though the atmosphere and singing will be enjoyable.

Excuse me, I meant "alludes" not "eludes". Obviously I lose command of the English language late at night! Maybe I should try to elude capture by the Grammar Police!

I have always wanted to see the shows at the Lapin Agile..but I thought I would miss most of the point of it all, not speaking French well at all.

I went with two friends to the Lapin Agile in May. I did not enjoy the experience at all; you are CRAMMED into a tiny room at uncomfortable chairs, unable to get to a bathroom, unable to get a drink ( other than the drop in a glass they include in the price ) . Of course it is all in French ( what else after all we are in France) and its very amusing and rollicking for the first half hour and then I was crawling the walls. No break time so that you can quietly leave either; when we and every other non french person got up to scoot out the door during a lull, we were told it was embarrassing to the singers. Never again.

I have to agree with joey365_000. We went there in February a couple of years ago. We walked out after about the first 1/2 hour of the show -- didn't pay, and when we went to the coat closet to get your coats, there was a lady in there rifling thru the coat pockets. We caught her, and she went ballistic in French.

I would not recommend this place, especially if you don't speak French. ((b))

Raymond: I was at the Lapin Agile last year and enjoyed it thoroughly. It may have helped that I speak French. I was sitting very comfortably on a banquette (paris bistro style). It's worth a visit if you understand French because the show, of course, is all in French.

Oh boy! I guess this is a I speak French versus I don't speak French thing, but I love Le Lapin Agile because it is the oldest cabaret in Paris and it is so AUTHENTIC - meaning everyone speaks/sings in French. It's a classic - if you don't like it, tant pis!

Possessing a good comprehension of French is probably the best way to enjoy Au Lapin Agile, but it's still lots of fun for those of us whose language skills aren't at an advanced level. I think it's worth a visit!
I bought an inexpensive little poster when I was there about 10 yrs. ago, and it hangs, now framed, on my office wall.

Speaking of which, I speak French better than I comprehend it; anyone else like that?

Yes, Grandmere1, I speak it better and read it best. I've absolutely no ear for it, though. All those silent endings! I've found to never ask for directions in French as I'll never understand the answer. The only French I'll speak in Paris are general niceties and purchase requests. I really should spend my commuting time listening to tapes - maybe it would train my ear :)
