Nightclubs-"Fabric" "Matter" Etc.

I have a friend (yeah I got friends) who is going to the UK soon. He wants to know of a good club to go to. He has heard of two clubs called Fabric and Matter. I told him I'd ask here. Anybody got any idea if these are any good or are they just overpriced and overhyped and full of pricks? Thanks

Fabric is a good club, various areas in it and different nights on. I wouldn't say overhyped, crowd depends on the night.

The same can be said for Matter. It depends on the night and who's DJ'ing. And as with any club in London that holds a couple of thousand people or so, there'll undoubtedly be a smattering of pricks, but they're easily avoided.

That's true of places anywhere. I'm not a big "club person" but I've been to one or two, here not in the UK, that just ooze "attitude". I guess I meant somewhere that isn't like that. Thanks

I'm not a fan of big clubs either, precisely due to the "prick quotient", but for a one-off night out, either would be fine.

I'm also intrigued as to where "here" is...

"Here" is Dallas, Texas

Advise your friend to pick up a copy of Time Out London (the weekly magazine, not the guidebook) when he arrives - widely available in newsagents. It lists all the club nights (and every other entertainment imaginable) so he can pick something he fancies.

Oh, forgot, he can get a taster of what's on here:

I've had a couple of nights out in Dallas and can be fairly certain that in London you won't bump into any of the sorts of characters I did whilst out and about in Deep Ellum.

Fabric will have a higher wanker ratio due to its location in Shoreditch, but not enough to stop you from having a good night in my opinion.

Thanks for all of your replies. I'll print this out and show him. I'm assuming "wanker"="jerk".

Quote <b>corli33</b> <i>"I'm assuming "wanker"="jerk".</i>

Almost <i>exactly</i> right, but more accurately "wanker" = "jerker".

Just one small warning - Shoreditch is the home of the Shoreditch twat.

Jay_G Sep 9th, 2009 07:15 AM

Pricks, wankers and twats. I think that's known as a Shoreditch full house...

Cholmondley_Warner Sep 9th, 2009 07:23 AM

You forgot knobbers, plonkers, Nathan Barleys and cockchafers.

Jay_G Sep 9th, 2009 07:39 AM

I believe that's a Shoreditch flush.
