Night Bus?

We arrive at the main airport in Rome on December 20 at 11:10 p.m. in the evening. We wish to catch a bus or train to our hotel which is 3 minutes from the Termini. I read that the last bus leaves the airport, heading for the Termini, at 11:30 p.m., and I highly doubt we'll be able to catch that one, although we plan to have no checked baggage. Do you think we could catch it? Could anyone tell me where it departs at the airport? And are there still late night buses which depart from the airport to the Termini, starting at 1 a.m?

There is a bus operated by Cotral which leaves at 24.45 as well as one operated by SIT Bus Shuttle leaving at 23.50

Why not just book a airport transfer or just take a taxi? Or stay at airport area hotel?

suze Jul 27th, 2017 07:54 AM

Why wouldn't you just use a taxi since it is such a short ride?

PalenQ Jul 27th, 2017 07:56 AM

Do you think we could catch it?>

Where are you flying from -if Schengen Zone you may breeze thru but if not Immigration will take time.

nochblad Jul 28th, 2017 03:30 AM

PalenQ + suze - perhaps the difference between a taxi fare of 50-65 euros standard (not sure of night rates) and a bus fare of (say) 7 euros might have some relevance.

perhaps you both can afford such a cost but not everyone

The Leonardo Express train goes from FCO to Termini non stop.http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en/Se...micino-Airport

nochblad Jul 28th, 2017 05:02 AM

HappyTrvlr - your link says: Service from Rome Termini starts at 5.35 a.m. with last train departing at 10.35 p.m., and from Fiumicino Airport from 6.23 a.m. to 23.23 p.m.

13 minutes from arrival to Leonardo Express?

Also Leonardo Express reminds me a bit of Stansted Express.

Well I would certainly try for the bus too so I do understand. I failed to see 12:45 bus nochblad gave - so that should be doable.

I travel on a budget probably lower than anyone on Fodor's.

A "3 minute" taxi ride would be 65 euro?

PalenQ Jul 28th, 2017 08:51 AM

65 euro would be for a cab ride into Rome - more than 3 minutes.

suze Jul 28th, 2017 09:02 AM

All I know if the OP states the distance they need to travel as being "3 minutes".

I don't see how the cost between a bus, train or taxi could be all that much more costly?

kleeblatt Jul 28th, 2017 09:28 AM

The hotel is three minutes from the train station "Termini" and not from the airport. Geez.

Geezzzz- is not OP talking about going from airport to Rome hotel? Bus would leave them with a short walk - who would take a taxi?

Where do you get taxi from where bus lets them off?
