Nicosia
Thanks for your help with Hotels...that part of the planning is done. Now I want to organize a few things to see and do while in Cyprus, but it seems there is ZIP to do or see in Nicosia. Anyone know any different? We will be driving from Larnaca one day to Nicosia, and then on to Kakopetria the next day. Considering when I Googled things to do in Nicosia, all I got were tours you could pay for in Nicosia that would take you to other parts of the island (don't need that), would you suggest spending more time on the road between areas or just leave Larnaca late and leave for Kakopetria early the next morning? Any help is appreciated.

Cyprus museum is worthwhile, incredible treasures though the building is due for an upgrade (in the works). Wander over across the Green line to the north (take your passport) it's like stepping back in time 40 years. Ledra Palace Hotel still shows bullet holes from fighting in '74. Sobering for those of us who have been lucky enough not to have experienced war firsthand. Byzantine museum has beautiful icons. Levantis Municipal museum is really excellent and free. Walk around and enjoy the people. I really love Cyprus but you have to open yourself up to the experience. It's a fascinating blend of Eastern and Western cultures.
