Nice/Eze: Advise on Tour Companies
Seeking Tour Companies for a day trip out of Villefranche. If deposits are required they must offer a secured website to do so. I won't fax or email credit card numbers, or make expensive PayPal payments. French Tour Companies seem to want payment in advance and via unsecured or expensive payment methods. I have not found this in other countries i.e. Italy, Greece, Turkey.

Let me first say that this is a very, very easy independent bus trip. If you are still set in getting a guided tour just wait to get there and do the transaction in person, I don't see why you have to get this set in advanced. Once there you will get better recommendations and even more choices.

The tour companies are very expensive compared to doing yourself with public transport........I know.....I did the tour company last time I was there because I hadn't done my homework and worked out it was possible to do the same with the very cheap public transport system. I think it cost us 40 euro each for what basically turned out to be a return bus ride to Monaco from Nice....can do that by public transport for a few euros.
Agree with Viajero2, wait until you get there and go to the visitors centre for advice....don't ask at the hotels as they will push you towards the tour companies who pay them a commission.

Tourist center and even your hotel will have tour brochures. I'm assuming you would be there in the warm weather-the tours don't run all year.
We DID use our hotel's concierge and the bus picked us up at the hotel. I don't have any problem with the hotel getting a commish. We had a super day with a great guide.

Bus #100 Direction Menton will take you from Villefranche Sur Mer (or from Nice's Gare Routiere station by Place Massena) to Monaco (Stop: Place Moulins across the street from the Monte Carlo Casino) for 2 Euro (4 Euros round trip). This is a gorgeous drive by coastal roads on French Riviera so it is not like you missing on this either. I took this bus with my sister last year from Nice' main bus station (Gare Routiere).
Bus #82 will take you from Nice to Eze for 1 Euro. Not as frequent as Bus 100, check the timetables at http://www.lignesdazur.com/
If feeling adventurous take the bus on to La Turbie, GORGEOUS VIEWS of Monaco and an impressive Roman Monument built by the Roman Emperor Augustus.
Have fun!!

Wish I could give you the name of the company. Hub picked up many brochures and I didn't note which we chose. It might have been Tour Azur. However, we went to Eze, Monaco and a perfumerie in the a.m., Cannes and St. Paul de Vence in the afternoon. We were dropped in old Nice for lunch hour on our own.
One trades convenience for one's own time frame with such tours.
We took the 1 euro bus from Menton to Nice and back on another visit in March 2009. It was crowded and hot and we agreed we were glad we'd taken a guided tour, but we had as much time as we wanted to explore Old Nice. Again, a trade you have to decide upon.

In Aix, we used Rendez-Vous Provence. They too picked us up at the hotel. They kindly didn't cancel the tour even though we were the only ones signed up. We went Vaucluse, Abbey of Senanque, Gordes (had lunch there with the guide), Roussillon, Bonnieux and Lourmarin. We had ample time to explore and our guide was super. We took a separate tour to Cassis where we cruised 3 calanques and drove to cliffs overlooking Cassis.
I had been having breathing problems so it was easier for someone else to do all the schlepping and driving. Normally, we would have walked, bussed or cabbed to such places on our own. The tours worked for us at the times we needed them.
