Nice-What to do?

I'll be in Nice for 2 days, 2 nights late Sept. Any suggestions on activities/sights?

Simple,
Take a train and go to Canne and St. Tropez one day, and Monte Carlo the next.
Or go to EZE and St. Paul Devence in Provence.

Alberto01-thanks for the suggestions, is Monte Carlo good for just wandering? I only hear about the casino!

Um, you can't get to St-Tropez by train, and with only 2 days in Nice you'd do better to stay in that area. Plenty to see in Nice itself: the Promenade des Anglais, the view from the "castle rock," Vieux Nice (great for eating and shopping), a number of museums and Roman ruins, and that's just for starters.

Near Nice, especially if you have a car, is the lovely peninsula of St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, with gorgeous views of the sea and many mansions of the rich and famous. You could also visit Eze-village, St-Paul-de-Vence, and old Mougins.

I'd suggest skipping Monte Carlo--not all that interesting. Ditto for Cannes, given your limited length of time in the region.

We took an hour long boat tour of the area. It was quite inexpensive (around 12-15 euros) and we really enjoyed it!

There were brochures for it in our hotel lobby and reservations were not needed although it said they were in the printed material.

If you do go to the Casino in MC, I highly recommend the restaurant that is just across the street. The food was great and they were kind enough to offer speedy service (we asked if our choices were able to be prepared quickly) so that we didn't miss the last train back to Nice!

If you have never been to Nice and will have only two days, stay in Nice. As Underhill suggested, you can find enough things to do in Nice or at most a visit to a nearby coast town/village as St.-Jean-Cap-Ferrat or Villefranche-sur-mer.

Find a cafe, drink some wine, wander, get some sun, have a nice dinner, drink more wine, sleep. Repeat for maximmum effect.

hello,
Sorry but I think Monte Carlo is a fantastic place to visit. First just go to Monte Carlo, and have lunch in the Cafe de Paris, as that other writer mentioned, across the street from the national casino. Then you can walk the small town on the palace side of the harbor. You can tour the palace, visit J Cousteau's museum. Monte Carlo is one of the playyards of the world, and one of the most beautiful, and one should see it if that close. Much to see in Nice, but when you get home, you can say you spent a day in Monte Carlo, and everyone who hasn't been there will want to hear about it.
