nice to rome help!!
Travelling by train, and having 2-3 days, how long would it take? where would I stop along the way?
|
Hi tam,
Do you mean that you want to take 2-3 days to get from Nice to Rome? |
There are so many options for stopovers, I can't even imagine where to begin. The train ride itself is loaded with beautiful views of the Riviera. There are scores of little towns along the Italian Riviera, not to mention Genoa, Pisa, Florence, Orvieto.
My mind is spinning, help me. |
Thank you so much. How would you shape such a trip from nice to Florence? Can you be more specific? If I were to spend two nights along the way, where would you stay?
|
If I had 3 nites I would spend 2 at Santa Matgherita Ligure and the last nite in Orvieto.
|
oops ! make that Margherita !
|
I second the recommendation by Bobthenavigator, but it would mean getting off the train in Genoa, and getting a taxi or local train to Santa Margherita.
The only other thought I had was taking a LONG train ride ( I think it's at least six hours) down to Pisa, then spending two nights around Pisa/Florence, one night in Orvieto, before heading to Rome. |
Hi tam,
For a very pleasant and relaxing break, train to Lucca (visit Pisa or Florence)if you wish, train to Orvieto (Lunch or dinner in the garden at I Sette Consoli Pzza Sant’Angelo 1A phone/fax 011 39 0763 343911) and then on to Rome. ((I)) |
