Nice to Rome-any ideas...
We have three to four days to travel between Nice and Rome at the beginning of November and are looking for an interesting stopover. There seems to be no real direct, fast train. Any ideas for an interesting stopover near the coast?

Hi FTP,
Are you more interested in getting to Rome, or in the 3-4 travel? www.alpieagles.it flies Nice to Venice or Naples for as little as 19E plus tax. |
Thank you for the info. We are more interested in the travel. My daughter lives in Rome and we will be there for four weeks and take some side trips from there. Last Christmas we travelled to Venice, Bolzano and Castelrotto. The idea of flying to Naples may be a possibility though.

FTP - You have a choice of nice stop-over places, I think.
Personally I would choose Santa Margherita Ligure. It gives you good options for day-trips around the scenic Portofino Peninsular - Camogli, Portofino, Rapallo - and is within an hour of the Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre villages e.g Vernazza would be another option - but may be relatively quiet in November. Or if you prefer to be in a city - how about Genoa? Lucca? Pisa? Hope this helps ... Steve |
Thank you. We have never been to Lucca-sounds interesting. We spent 2 nights in Santa Margherita 7 years ago and loved it, so that would also be an option.
