Nice to Positano - how far?

Hi -

I am trying to plan a trip to Italy.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get from Nice to Rome and from Rome to Positano by rental car and by train?

Also, does anyone know how to contact a rental car company in France/Italy?

Thanks.

If you aren't planning to stay in Rome or sightsee between Nice and Positano, you might considering flying. Alpieagles flies between Nice and Naples. www.whichbudget.com lists the budget airlines in Europe. For trains between Nice and Naples look at www.trenitalia.com. Click on English and then international. You must enter a date within 60 days if you want to get prices. You can't book more than 60 days in advance.

There is a big surcharge to rent a car in France and drop in Italy.

I took the train from Nice to Rome and it was about 12 hours (counting up the layover in Genoa), but from Rome its a few hours to Naples and from there take the local Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento and the bus to Positano...seems like a lot but its an adventure!
