Nice/special lunch spot in Munich for two ladies.

We leave next week on our next adventure. The first few days we will be staying outside Munich (the dh's will be attending a trade show), the dh's will drop us into Munich for the day, so I'm trying to plan a nice day. I'm thinking a spot of shopping but would also like somewhere really nice for a long lunch. Maybe somewhere with a view or just a really great place for amazing food and people watching. We've both been to Munich before, so this will be a relaxing day, we both love taking photos, eating great food and drinking nice wine, so some little known gem in or near a park?

Love to hear your thoughts.

If it's a nice day, perhaps the Seehaus in the Englischen Garten.

Or a restaurant near the Marienplatz. There are many.

You are aware that it's freezing cold and wet, right. No green leaves anywhere. I'd go to "Bei Mario" and have a pizza or any fancy shmancy italian food!

Given the ice cold weather, the al fresco lunch spots are not advisable.

My first choice for atmosphere and food would be this one:

Maybe somewhere with a view or just a really great place for amazing food and people watching.>

Try the huge outdoor beer garden and restaurant featuring down home German food - roasted chicken, spatzen, German potato salad, sauer kraut, bratwursts, radishes, pretzels, etc and great people watching in this huge garden by the Chinese Pagoda in the middle of the Englischer Gardens - a sprawling lush park that makes for a sweet walk - however on a nice day you will likely see literally hundreds of naturalists sun bathing au naturel all over the park, even right next to the foot paths so don't be bashful - perhaps even join in? A brass 'oompah' band plays from the second level of the Chinese Tower in the center of the garden.

As traveller said, I would NOT consider an outdoor beer garden this early in the year. If the day is really warm, a stroll thru the Englischer Garten would be nice but have your special lunch elsewhere.

Unless we experience a weather miracle here during the next days (which the forecasts say will not happen) you can positively, terminally, without any doubt exclude any outdoor terraces, beer gardens etc. from your plans. It's barely above freezing here - during the day.

Oops I failed to note the trip was so soon - but there is an indoor restaurant I believe at the Chinese Turm in Englischer Gardens. For an indoor beer hall the famous Hofbrauhaus also provides down-home German food - and lively oompah bands and a general revelry - kind of an Octoberfest inside - hearty typical German food along with the lively beer hall atmosphere.
