Nice Roman Hotel for $200/night

Any suggestions for a nice Roman hotel for $200/night or less. We will only be in Rome for 2 days and would like to be within easy walking distance to the sites. Thanks.

Btw I was interested in Residenza Cellini, but they were all booked :-( If that gives you guys any help as to the type of hotel we are looking for. I think they may have been slightly more than $200 but not by much. I'm so bummed that they're sold out.

Depends on the time of year you are going, but look at the Daphne Inn.

Thank you very much. That looks great! I don't know why that didn't pop up on any of my internet searches. I guess that's why we use this site to share info...ahhh warm fuzzy :-)

The Daphne Inn gets great reviews here. Good luck getting a room there. Their policy this past May was no stays shorter than 4 nights, though. That's why we couldn't stay there on our 3 night visit to Rome.

Instead, we chose the Domus Julia and were very happy with it. Our twin room was 170EUR with breakfast. Good location, below the Barberini (sp?) Palace and very close to the top of the Spanish Steps. Very clean, small side street, new bathroom, use of a kitchen/dining room. You can click on my name above to find my trip report, with good restaurants in Rome, too.

Have fun and good luck.

oh darn! I wish I had read your review before spending time emailing them with all of the info that they ask for on their website. We are only staying for 2 nights. I will look up your suggestion now. Any other suggestions out there are still appreciated. Thanks guys.

Look also at the Banchi Vecchi. I don't know what if they have any minimum stays, but I think they would be in your range.

Please don't take my word for it, re: Daphne Inn's 4 night minimum stay policy. It could vary from month to month. Ask them to be sure it applies to you, because it does sound like a great place. (They have two properties, you know.)

My wife and I are going in June 2007. We booked a room @ the Gea di Vulcano in Rome. Reviews were great and the locations seems fine. 125 Euros/night.

How long was the walk to tourist attractions like the Trevi fountain from Gea? It does have good reviews.

Bianchi Vecchi seems like a good idea as well. I swear I should have just started by asking you guys I have been on the internet searching for about 2 days! Thanks again.
