nice hotel nearest train station - Chiusi, Italy
We will be arriving in Chiusi, Italy by train from Bologna and need a clean, pleasant hotel that is near the train station. We will just be there for one night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just travel on to your "real" destination? Is there any burning reason to stay in Chiusi overnight? It is not a long exhausting train ride from Bologna....so travel on travel on and save your money and time eh?

There are two parts to Chiusi, the lower town and the upper town. The lower town, where the train station is, is pretty much dead-on ugly. I can't even recall ever seeing a hotel there, though there's probably one or two. Anyway, it's not attractive at all and I can't imagine you'd want to stay there when all the cool stuff is a looooong walk away over a bridge and up a majorly steep hill in the upper town.

We are meeting a bike tour at the Chiusi RR station and are arriving at 8 PM the night before. Hotels recommended to us have been Albergo La Sfinge, Hotel Rosati and Villa Patriarca.Which of these hotels is best and are taxis or

hotel shuttles available at that hour?

I've stayed at Abergo La Sfinge and thought it was very nice. You will need to take a taxi to the hotel- it's in the upper town, which is the historic center. The ride is no more than 10 minutes. There should be a taxi at the train station upon your arrival, but if not, you can call for one. The hotel can arrange for your taxi down to the train station the next morning. There are plenty of taxis in Chuisi.
Enjoy your trip! |
Villa Patriarca is very nice but a bit pricey.
