Nice hotel in Budapest

At the end of the month I'm going to Budapest for a wedding. I've been there many times before and usually stay with friends - but with the baby - I don't want to disturb my single friends unduly.

Anyway. I'm looking for a very nice hotel. Would like the Four Seasons, but it's a bit steep per night...I'm between the Gellert (historical value) and the Corinthia Grand. Does anyone have any comments on these two? Is there a nice hotel on the Buda side outher than the Gellert that I'm missing?

Thank you

I only went to the pool/spa and for lunch at the Gellert and, obviously, it's aging. In my opinion, it's showing its age in the elegant common areas... and not in a good way. Don't know about the other hotel you mentioned.

FYI- We stayed at the Hotel Victoria which we adored. Best view in town as every room overlooks the river with huge bay windows. Sounds like you want a much fancier hotel with more services, but would recommend to any wedding guests on a tighter budget. Don't miss an afternoon at the big public pool Szechenyi. Wonderful.

There is a really nice Hilton on the Buda side up on the hill near the castle.

And the nice thing about staying there is that when you are in it, you don't see how it intrudes on a historic district.

I stayed at the Hotel Intercontinental 2 years ago and it was pretty nice...just a bit down from the 4 Seasons, facing the river. Really good breakfast and patio, easy access to everywhere.

We've stayed at the Hilton in Budapest. It was built on the site of a former monastery as I recall.

Those runis have actually been preserved but somehow they are invisible to people from Ireland.

And to everybody else outside the building.

I can echo the nod to the Intercontinental but it's not on the Buda side. Very well run and I would think would be very helpful with any baby-related issues. We had a fabulous view of the Danube and the Chain Bridge and the castle.
