Nice, France Hotel Help

My wife and I will be in Nice for 3 nights in September and would like a hotel around 75E per night. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

Setember is a high season. Will you be fine with 1 - 2 * hotels for that budget? Acanthe 1* location central and great. I like their Rotonde room. Don't expect much, it's only a 1*. Hotel Little Palace 2*, I don't like it's location as much as that of Acanthe but still central ("musicians' quarter" ?), otherwise, better than Acanthe in all other aspect. I stayed at both more than once in low seasons, paid around 50 - 60 €.

Check out Ownersdirect.com or Nicepebbles.com to see if they have any studio or small one bedroom apartments. Apartment rentals can generally be less than a hotel. Expect a three night minimum.

If you don't mind chain hotels, the Ibis hotel near the train station has decent reviews on tripadvisor; it is a bit dearer than your 75 euro.

I have stayed at the Campanile Acropolis a couple of times, the rooms are small but it is in a great position on the edge of the old town. It is well within your budget at about 65 euros.

I have been staying at Hotel Amaryllis since 1983. It is a 2* with air conditioning and free wifi in the lobby. Very close to the train station, just feet away from the tram, McDonalds, and about 50 feet from Ave. Jean Medicine with all the shops. You can walk straight down that street to the water---shopping all the way. Or you can do Priceline. I've done that a couple and got the 4* NH Nice which is very nice, but not near shopping or restaurants. The tram does go there.

Thanks everyone, I'm still checking the rooms out but am leaning towards the Ibis. Not much character but looks clean.
