Nice, France

Looking for the best way to get from the Nice, France airport to our hotel. Any suggestions?

scatcat Aug 17th, 2010 06:26 PM

I take the direct airport bus. There is one that goes direct to the train station (99) and another that goes to the bus station(98). cost 4€. The taxi will cost between 35-50€

Where is your hotel?
What is your criteria for being the "best?"
How many of you are there?
When are you arriving?

The airport is only about four miles from the city centre so there is no problem taking a bus. When you exit the terminal turn right and you will find a bus information booth. Other than taxis transportation is very affordable in Nice.

scatcat has it right for the buses. We were going to take the bus (98) which runs along the promenade des Anglais to the main bus station but just decided to take a cab. More money I know but easier and we were dropped at our hotel door.
Happy travels!!

There is a hotel shuttle bus - depends which hotel you have booked.

We are arriving on September 30, 2010. Our hotel is Hotel Suisse - Hôtels Ocre et Azur. It is located on the promenade des Anglais. There are four us traveling together. Plus a second couple arriving later in the day.

If your luggage has wheels, you'll find it is a short-moderate walk through the old town from the main bus station to the Suisse. Take bus 98.

According to viamichelin.com, it's 0.8km from the bus station to the hotel and it's about a 12-minute walk.

Thanks for all the great information. We will love walking through old town to the hotel.

Looking for recommendations on cafes, shopping and things to do. The six of us are heading to Eze for lunch on Friday. Any other great memories to be made?

You mean walk from the bust terminal to Hotel Suisse? For me it would be easier getting off the bus while it is still on the Promenade des angalais, by Hotel Meridian before turning inland to the left. You can see your hotel straight ahead and the walk is on a wide beach side road, easier than crossing the old town on small and winding alleys when you are schlepping luggage, even if the distance is slightly farther. and espeically if this is your first time in Nice. I often do this (with only my carry-on) when I arrive in Nice in the mornnig even if my hotel is closer to the bus terminal. Waliking on the coastal road is appealing and I often stop by Cours Saleya to have a coffee sitting right next to the market.

Have a look at both suggested walking routes using
Google Maps Streetview... you can do a virtual walk of each and decide for yourself...
