Nice, France
 

My husband and I will be in Nice the last week of October, for 5 days . We'll have a rental car.
What are YOURS favorite places to visit? Any suggestion are welcome. We're willing to drive 2 or 3 hours from Nice.

Villa Euphrisi

I exod Villa Wphrussi. Make sure you visit the small town of St-Jean nearby and the Greek Kerylos. These three places are all in walking distance to each other.
Also, Antibes, St-Paul de Vence and Foundation Maeght.
Nice- Musee Matisse, Musee Chagall.

Eze, really enjoyed the cactus garden. Beautiful flora and a gorgeous view over the Mediterranean.

I agree with the suggestions above, but I would not, personally, drive a car to them. Traffic can be very heavy at times and parking in those areas is a PITA. With the public transport system so well organized and cheap I'd leave my car behind.

Justo to second some tips already mentioned here:

Villa Ephrussi is a must in my opinion.

Sanit Paul de Vence and Eze are beautiful, each deserves a couple of hours of visit plus, maybe lunch.

Of course, you can add Monaco, Cannes and Antibes yo your to visit list.

Nice is a wonderful city, wth shopping areas, good food, and you can take a good walk along the Promenade, ending at the castle. You can go up to de castle, either walking or via a free elevator.

I will leave the car at the parking and use public transport, either train or buses will take you to any place at very reduced cost.

Hi Syl....you have been "tipped" royally in the posts above. All I can add are pix of each place mentioned. I don't think driving will be much of a deterrent when you're there...it gives you much more independence. It's the usual mode of transportation we have used on most of our trips.

Enjoy your trip...we stayed at a great lodging near the town of Tourrettes sur Loup. Unfortunately it was sold and I don't know if it is now available. It was called "Beauvallon"...

Cannes and Antibes are good in October. Monaco is only if you want to spend or lose a lot of money. Oct is not in season and you will have limited opportunities to see the gigantic yachts in the harbor or see their occupants in the inner rooms of the casino in their tuxes, gowns and jewels but all of the uber expensive designer boutiques will be open.

Agree with all of the above, except the public transport part. I would use the car.
