Nice
Please provide advice on a good location for a Nice apartment. I will not have a car and I want to be able to access the beach at least one day.
Thanks, Glenda |
I strongly recommend the 'OLD TOWN ' lots of restaurants, food shopping at a great outdoor market every morning ,depending on your location the beach is about a 2 minute walk.
Both the train station and bus stops to visit other towns are located there. |
I would avoid the old town in summer, it can be very noisy.
The bus station is nowhere near the old town. |
Read the "TRAIN" station is nowhere near the old town.
|
Thanks. Where is the train station?
|
It is located avenue Thiers. See google maps.
|
If it were me, I would stay somewhere close to the tram line (convenient access to the Old Town, main shopping drag, train station, and bus station): http://tramway.nice.fr/La-ligne-1/Le-trace

The bus station has been turned into a park : 'Promenade du Paillon'. Buses now leave from several points scattered around the central area.

Be sure to taste Nice's Socca.Visit the flower market.

The old town has an entirely different feel to the rest of Nice. Yes, I imagine it could noisy in summer but we really enjoyed it (in September). The rest of Nice that we saw was pleasant enough but nothing to write home about, although we did like the area around the port. Walking to the main train station (there are multiple) took a while because we kept window shopping (I was with my teenage daughter) and the buses left from different points on the edge of the old town and of course from other parts of the city. We had six nights and Nice made a good base for exploring the area.
