Next strikes in Italy
 

Summer holidays last until end August, then normal life will resume. That means:
Sept 4th: strike of Trenitalia
Sept 6th: strike of Easyjet, Volotea, ckeck in at Linate airport
Sept 14th: strike of Malpensa airport

Thank you Neckervd! Is there a website to check for these? I googled but didn’t find anything official.

Thanks for posting that. Never thought I'd be bookmarking a web site with a list of strike dates, but it just goes to show how things are done differently in various parts of the world. I will keep an eye on this as my May trip approaches.

Strikes involving means of transport must be announced weeks in advance, so Unions call for a strike even if they know that a strike is very unlikely. There is no strike at Malpensa Airport on September 14.


You have no way to tell the difference between big and small unions, or between local transport and intercity railways: that site will make more harm than good.

As an example, unlike what neckverd claimed at #1, the September 4 strike is not a Trenitalia strike, but should effect all railway companies (Trenitalia, Italotremo, Trenord etc). Yet high speed trains will run, since it's been called by the SGB union. All Regionale trains departing before 9 AM and after 6 PM will also run, just like the long distance IC trains guaranteed to run during a national strike.

I find the website useful because if I know strike action is planned for a certain day, maybe I can change my planes well in advance, just in case, or if I can't, I'm aware there may be a problem and can have a plan B. I agree that it doesn't specify what the disruption will be, and that the strike may be called off, but some people find it useful all the same.
