All? Which schedule? For which period?

Doesn't a new period open every day, 90 days in advance?

DebitNM Jun 10th, 2014 02:16 PM

no, iDTGV works differently. It is for a block of time, for 5 or 6 months out. And they are released on specific dates, not a rolling 90 day thing.

Last opening was mid March and it was for seats till early Sept. This one tomorrow should go through at least the end of the year. They do have schedule changes Dec 1, I think, so that may impact it.
iDTGV isn't for all trains, but if you can get it, it saves money. Especially when it first opens. PREMS on TGV may be less, but they don't open for late year travel for a few months. Better the bird in the hand...

Seems bookable 90 days out now (through Sept 8) with the fall 90 days opening tomorrow.

Here's information from the SNCF site with information about when ticket sales open for many types of trains (TGV, iDTGV, TER, Intercités, Thalys, Eurostar and more):

When you put in dates after 11 Sept, you get this message:

Les réservations ne sont pas encore ouvertes pour cette période. Vous pourrez réserver vos billets à partir de 19€ dans la matinéee du 11/06/2014 sur idtgv.com.

{Reservations are not open for this period. You’ll be able to book tickets from 19€ starting from 11/06/2014 on idtgv.com}

And remember that when your credit card is rejected for an iDTGV booking, as it may well be, there's a workaround, http://www.seat61.com/voyages-sncf.htm#iDTGV

ARGH!They have opened schedule to 13 Dec and I need tickets for 17 Dec!! I hope they are just slow to load the trains into schedule and not that the 13th is as far as they are going to load at this time.

topping

DebitNM Jun 11th, 2014 07:33 AM

sigh...I have to wait 3 more months for the next block of tickets to open. So close....

Summer schedules on European trains are from the 2nd weekend in June to the 2nd weekend in Dec. Winter schedules are 2nd weekend in Dec. to the 2nd weekend in June. I doubt you will see bookings available for winter until fall although some train companies are better than others at getting the two major schedule changes online in a timely fashion.

Last year iDTGV sales opened on September 24 for December 15 - March 27.

Something to consider is that regular TGV tickets for dates around the holiday season don't go on sale until two months prior. December 17 probably falls into that period. Googling, I found the following response from SNCF to a question last year:

"Pour les achats de billets pour une circulation entre le 15 décembre 2013 et le 16 janvier 2014 avec les Intercités et TGV, l'ouverture des réservations se fera le 17 Octobre 2013."

You might want to sign up for the "Alerte Résa" which will send you an email the day prior to sales opening for your date of travel. It has worked great for me four times, but a couple of people have posted that it didn't work for them.

Good luck!

I know. I will try to snag tickets using iDTGV in Sept. If not, I will wait til October for the regular TGV tickets. Didn't realize the cut off was the 13th of December. C'es la vie!
