Next Big Camel Thing?
Since the Pushkar Festival has, I've heard, suffered from over-tourism, the New York Times travel section today might have a solution for tradition-laden (if not animal rights approved) camel events. The article is called Inside a Turkish Camel-Wrestling Festival, in Selcuk. My first thought was big mustachioed men wrestling camels but reading more it's the camels wrestling each other. I'm very impressed with the photos of be-costumed animals, complete with decorative camel muzzles. We may have several years to say we've seen something new on the tourist trail so get cracking. I suspect I won't but one never knows. It's outside so that's an upside at the moment.
I'd post a link but you know how that can go. Easy to find, prominent in the travel section.
