Newlyweds in Europe - where should we go?

My husband and I would like to plan a Europe trip for next spring. We've both been before with friends (London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Prague, various other places), but this will be our first trip together. We wouldn't mind going places we've been before, as we've never been anywhere there together.

If you had 10-days to spend in Europe as a newlywed, where would you go?

Venice and Lake Como.

When? All the difference between April and June

What were your favorite things about the places you've already visited? Do you prefer countryside, city or seaside? Do you want to have a car or take trains/public transportation?

After a wedding, you'll probably want to just relax. You can't go wrong IMO with Italy. Maybe spend time on the Amalfi Coast with a few days on Capri. Finish off with time in Rome.

Bobthenavigator - definitely leaning more towards April than June. We live in Minneapolis so the only nice time to be in town is the summer!

My favorite city in the world in London - my husband loved his time in the Greek isles. With that said, I've been leaning towards Italy since I started thinking about this trip! I've visited Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre and Venice (but only for a day). What have I missed in Italy?

You haven't been to the Amalfi Coast and Capri? Or Lake Como? You could do Rome/AC/Capri or Venice/Lake Como.

If you haven't been to Athens and the Greek isles, that would be a great trip also. But I'd wait for May or June for that.

For newlyweds, I'd go back to Venice. Sure, it's full of tourists, but if you have the right attitude, it's magical. One day doesn't do it justice. Splurge on a gondola ride. Get away from St. Mark's Square, and walk around - there's a real city there.

On our first trip to Venice, Margie and I took paused while backing our baggage down the steps of the train station, and turned around to see where we were going. There was a busy city street, but it was a wide canal. It was full of traffic, all boats. There was a bus, only it was a boat. A line of taxis, but they were boats. A police car, but it was a boat. A pink palazzo on the other side of the Grand Canal. We stared for a while, and I said to Margie, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore".

I do not suggest Lake Como in April. I would head south--the Amalfi Coast or Sicily---we loved Sicily.

I agree with bob. Sicily is gorgeous.
