Newbie Fodorite.....what does TTT mean??
I new on the board and I have no idea what it means! Can someone clarify? :)
|
To The Top. When you bring a thread to the top it increases the thread's chances of being seen and answered.
|
Thanks P M.....how do I bring my thread to the top??
|
Any reply that's posted will bring it to the top, but if there's nothing to say, you can just type TTT and everyone will know you are topping your thread in order to get more answers. Sometimes we top threads for another poster, that's when you will see something like "topping for Staceyloren." That means another poster is helping you get answers by topping it for you.
|
type ttt when you post a reply - actually you did just bring it TTT :-)
|
anytime you post anything new, it goes to the top--so just post!!. :o)
If no one has responded in a while and someone wants something to go to the "top" (people may notice the question more quickly or have an easier time finding good/interesting information if you top), they will type "TTT" or "topping" but not an actual message so this will happen. You can see what time something is posted on the left of your screen and all are in descending time order. |
just in case you are wondering ( a couple of these took me a while to figure out - gang, feel free to correct me)
OP = Original Poster DH = Darling Husband IMO = In my opinion CC = Credit Card ( ok , kind of obvious) SIL = Sister in Law WO = Without Hope this helps :) Debbie |
Hi
What about LOL? Is this Laughing Out Loud or Lots of Love? Cheers |
LOL - Laughing out loud
ROTFLOL - Rolling on the Flooor Laughing Out Loud |
Let's not forget, ROFTLMAO=Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off
At this post. Jules |
jules,
are you being cynical? Now, be nice! :-) C&G |
Dang.
Busted. ;) Jules |
jules,
how about this one - I don't get to use it often, perhaps when I'm older and the bladder has 'issues' :-) ROTFLMAOWPIMP |
Alya, OK, now I am ROFLMAO.
:) (Stacey, ":)" means "SMILE" ) Jules |
Not sooo newbie, but still newish, but always wondered why when I post a smiley, he always looks like a clown!! Didn't care until I started posting more and its ALWAYS a clown.
:o) (did it come out a clown?) As I read this over, I seem really pathetic to care but I'm still going to post beacause I've been wondering for a while and I want to know!! Is there something I'm missing? What gives? |
I'm so glad someone posted these questions! If DH is "darling husband", what do husband's use to refer to their wives? DW?
Also, how do you add the cute Fodor's smiley's? I cant find an icon or anything. Thanks! |
OO, OO, OO (raising my hand in as Horseshack would do in Welcome Back Kotter)
I know part of the answer to that one. I learned it right here a few months ago. If you type two (( and then a letter followed by )), you'll get a cute something. I'm not sure what all the letters are to bring up the different symbols but it's fun to just experiment. There is a page somewhere that tells you all this. I think I saw it on my daughters IM page. ((s)) This one is with an 's' in the middle of the (( )) |
The feminine of DH is LW (Lovely Wife -- not "little woman"!)
The clown face and all other smileys are documented at http://www.fodors.com/forums/smileys See also http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34541276 ;) Best wishes, Rex |
smiling face type : - ) without spaces
winking face type ; - ) without spaces |
Thanks! That clears up a lot. I have always done my regular email smileys with a "o" as the nose. I guess Fodor's think that looks like a clown nose!! I Love it!
Happy postings! :~) (just trying something new!) |
Aaah, thanks everyone! Now I know how Ira does his lightbulb.
I always felt so left out with my schleppy little smiley face. : ) ((k)) |
Geesh, I always thought DH was for "dear heart". SWIK (shows what I know!)
|
I know GTG means an in-person meeting, but what does the phrase stand for?
|
GTG = GetToGether ((&))
|
Molte thanks for you all posting these tidbits as I'm a newbee myself!

Another question: How do I pull up another poster's trip report that I looked at once, Selected All and pasted it to Word Doc. I then printed it out (after modifying the margins and deleting advertisements in right column) but never Saved it. I've tried typing in Italy Trip Report as that's what she named it (TRA6 BTW is the author) and it's dated July 25, 2005, 2:31pm. I can't find it anywhere! I know that if I had posted my own question to her I could find it under my Screen Name; help please :)
|
staceyloren--
As Katerbug says, you can also post "ttt" on someone else's post, to save it for your own planning. Katerbug--If the report you're looking for had an unusual place name in it, you might enter that in "Search." If you still have no luck, you might try again in a month (or two)...the archives aren't terribly up-to-date. |
<<I've tried typing in Italy Trip Report as that's what she named it (TRA6 BTW is the author) and it's dated July 25, 2005, 2:31pm. I can't find it anywhere!>>
If you know a screen name exactly, you can alwas search on that person's (screen) name like this - - (it's the same as clicking on your own name) - - http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p?screen_name= like this: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...Tra6&fid=2 And thus, here is the trip report... http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34652684 Best wishes, Rex |
Of course, Rex! Looking up a post under someone's screen name makes the most sense--I wasn't thinking.
|
Rex, Smalti: I tried typing in the name of the poster under search and still nothing came up-then I posted my questions to you all. I don't have much patience so I'm sure I messed up the search somehow! Thanks Rex for pulling up the thread and thx smalti for suggesting I use the ttt posting to bring it up TOP! I am just now understanding the ttt! ((d))

You have to be addicted to this forum, K, to know that almost every week all summer... there has been a thread explaining that due to technical problems, which Fodors cannot or will not fix in a timely manner, the "search" function WILL NOT retrieve ANY thread that started after May 3, 2005 - - no matter WHAT you type into the "search box".
