Newark to Rome. Should I book now or hold off?
Hi All,
I’m looking to take a short trip from Newark to Rome from March 29, 2006 to April 2, 2006. I found a non stop flight on Alitalia for $586 pp round trip. It seems like a good price to me. Is it or should I hold off on buying the tickets? |
Hi g,
The $580 nonstop on Alitalia is the current best rate, and it is pretty good. I think that you have about a 50/50 chance of the price going up or down $50 between now and mid Nov. ((I)) |
Just a note: I keep hearing about luggage issues on
Alitalia but maybe not so bad for non-stop. I have been looking for direct flights mid March and do not wnat to change planes for fear of luggage loss or delay and this airline has the wrose record it seems. |
Just read in my Swiss newspaper that an Air Alitalia passenger became very angry because his flight was overbooked so he bit an ear off one of the staff.
The ear was sewn back on. Talking about an earful. |
that's funny! :)
not really but yes |
Glen,
That is a good price but take a look at Delta out of JFK and see if they have a comparable rate. Alitalia has been getting some bad reviews lately and striking monthly. I am flying them in three weeks out of JFK and when I booked my flight in May I noticed they were code sharing most flights with Delta. Had I known then what I know now about Alitalia I would have booked Delta. Good luck. |
Hi G,
If you're flying to Rome on March 29,2006, I hate to inform you that you missed your flight !!! |
If you're worried about Alitalia, go for less from JFK with Austrian/Lufthansa (2 variants at $556 and another three at $558) and for $585 I see another few possibilities on those dates.
Check kayak. |
Hmm.. I'm going to have to check out the flights from JFK. I didn't want to fly out of there but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I did.
As for the dates, it should have been 2007. Thanks. |
Very good price and non-stop is essential for such a short trip. I would book it.
